A registered representative at Mantei and Associates, Kathy Nishnic has furnished financial solutions for more than two decades. In addition to her professional responsibilities, Kathy Nishnic participates in multiple community events, including the Walk for Life and Famously Hot Pink Half Marathon, 5K + 10K, which raises funds for the Prisma Health Breast Center.
A health care center for women living in and around Lexington, Columbia, and the Midlands of South Carolina, Prisma Health Breast Center launched a cutting-edge initiative in 2019 aimed at helping individuals identify and mitigate risk factors for cancer. The first of its kind, the Center for Cancer Prevention and Wellness (CCPW) offers individuals free wellness screenings and lifestyle advice through an epigenetics lens. This means studying how an individual's daily behaviors genetically modify cells, with the goal of identifying the patient’s likelihood of getting cancer.
Through the innovative initiative, Prisma Health Breast Center aims to complete research into what happens to a cell before it shows signs of cancer. With a better understanding of how a cell develops cancer, doctors and researchers hope to find ways to recognize cancer before it has significantly developed.
